I have sewn since I discovered my mother’s old sewing machine unused in a cupboard at a very young age. My mother didn’t really sew, she was a knitter, but my grandmother did. They do say it skips a generation.
After working for some time with Singer and then Brother, I took my City and Guilds in machine embroidery, and have been inspired to be creative with all sorts of techniques since then. More recently I have been running courses in distressing and stitching into metal, and making fabric beads, as well as giving guidance on the Brother embroidery software.
My inspiration mainly comes from nature, colour, and scenes from this wonderful country we live in, and I love the freedom of free machine stitching and embellishing fabrics.
I’ve only recently joined this lovely group, and it’s so refreshing and helpful to be able to discuss views on a current project, and have the opportunity to exhibit.
