The New Horizons Textile Group was formed in January 1993 by a group of enthusiastic and forward thinking textile artists. The group reached the great age of 30 years in 2023 and is proud to be still going strong with innovative ideas constantly developing in members' work for use in our exhibitions.
New members have joined the group over the years and it has become a more diverse group in its stitching skills. The group aims to develop its members’ skills in design, technique and workmanship through mutual encouragement, support and workshops. The group strives to keep abreast of the wide range of materials, techniques and methods being used in textiles.
Membership is by invitation with the group meeting twice monthly during which members exchange ideas, discuss forthcoming exhibitions, work on current projects and critique each other's work .
The quilt illustrated on the home page and the banner above is called ‘The View from Here’. It achieved a first place for the group at the National Quilt Championships at Olympia in 1999. It is based on the view from the group’s meeting place, Bramfield Village Hall, Hertfordshire.
