The New Horizons Textile Group was formed in January 1993 by a group of enthusiastic and forward thinking textile artists.
New members have joined the group over the years and it has become a more diverse group in its stitching skills. The group aims to develop it’s members’ skills in design, technique and workmanship through mutual encouragement, support and workshops. The group strives to keep abreast of the wide range of materials, techniques and methods being used in textiles.
Membership is by invitation with the group meeting twice monthly during which members exchange ideas, discuss forthcoming exhibitions, work on current projects and critique each others work .
The quilt illustrated in the banner above is called ‘The View from Here’. It achieved a first place for the group at the National Quilt Championships at Olympia in 1999. It is based on the view from the group’s meeting place, Bramfield Village Hall, Hertfordshire.
